National Winner Japan – Best Documentary Series – Nature’s Hidden Miracles : The Secret Life of Plants
Hiroyuki Shirakawa joined NHK in 2004. He has since been producing and directing high-quality documentaries in the fields of science, health, medicine, and natural history. His credits include “Nationally Protected Monkeys in the Wilderness”; the award-winning “The Drama of the Unknown Seabirds in Isolation”; “COVID-19: AI Decodes the Research”; and “Dynamic Genomes” (a co-production with Curiosity, Al Arabiya, and Autentic). His most recent work includes “Nature’s Hidden Miracles” (a co-production with Curiosity, Autentic, and RAI), which has received several Japanese and international prizes including a Gold Medal in the 2023 Venice TV Award competition and a TV Special Jury Prize in the 2023 ABU Prizes competition.
